G^3 Professional Computer Surveillance Software Information

  • DEFAULT HOT KEYS = | T, G, 3 | Access GPCS via Hot Key only.  The default Hot Keys are ‘T’, ‘G’, and the number ‘3’ from the keyboard not the number pad.  Once un-locked you can arrange the Hot Keys to fit your choices.  If you cannot access GPCS via Hot Key then you may have conflicting software.  Please contact Triple G^3 if you have any issues. Important!  Please make sure you are using the correct number 3 as mentioned in red above.  The 3 on the number pad and the 3 from the top row of the keyboard are seen seperately with GPCS.

  • DEFAULT PASSWORD = | 1234 | Once you have accessed GPCS you will be prompted for a password.  The default password is ‘1234’.  Once un-locked you will receive the option to change this password.  BEWARE!  If you change the password and forget it you must un-install GPCS, choose ‘delete all files’ during un-install, then re-install GPCS in which the default password will take over.

  • Access to GPCS.  By default only the user that has installed GPCS can access GPCS although all users are still recorded.  You may change this option after accessing the GPCS ‘Administrator Control’ window then choosing ‘Options’.

  • Finding Users.  Once you have access the ‘Administrator Control’ window the rest is self explanatory.  You will be given a drop down box with a list of recorded users.  Just choose the name of the user you wish to begin viewing the history on.

  • View Key Log History.  Once you have chosen the user you wish to review history on you may then click on the drop down box below that to choose the Key Logs by Date and Time.  You will then receive information for when the Key Log started and ended, how many key words were found if watching for any, and of course the ‘Key Log’ itself displaying every key the user typed in order.

  • Toggling Key View.  Two strands of Keys are recorded by the user.  One strand you are most likely to want to see in which returns the exact keys the user pressed in a readable most common version.  The other is a more complex and distinct version showing all keys whether they be system keys or media keys that were pressed.  This will be used most likely in critical situations in which you need to determine the exact nature of the key log and what the user was doing.

  • View Screen Log History.  Once you have chosen a user you will automatically see a list of Screen Logs appearing (if there are any) in the list boxes below.  Double click the ‘Key Log’ by Date and Time that you wish to view and a list of Screen Shots will be shown.  Each screen shot has a unique Date and Time recorded showing you exactly when the screen shot was taken.  You may also open the Screen Log Viewer to examine the images at their original size.  This is best used when capturing screen shots for the entire desktop.  Note:  When using Screen Log Viewer don’t get confused between the viewer and your actual desktop.  Your screen may look exactly like the users screen did at that very moment.  You must close Screen Log Viewer in order to access your desktop again.

  • Viewing  screen log files.  View either  just the Screen Log files associated with a particular Key Log to better visualize what the user was doing at that very moment or view all screen logs at once.  Just remember that if you from whichever list you choose from will be the primary list for playback during the slide show feature.  You may enter the slide show viewer simply by double clicking on the image you want to see full size and then using the simple controller.

  • Options.  In this window you will see tabs indicating several sections with several different configuration options.  Most all options should be self explanatory and some we already covered.  None the less here is a quick lay down.

  • Monitoring Options.  Here you can choose what type of accounts to monitor from All User to non-Administrative users only, to specific users.  If you have chosen specific users you must remove the users you DO NOT want to be monitored from the first list and into the second list.  This is easily done by selecting the user and then clicking the arrowed button to move them.  Placing the user back into the list uses the same concept.

  • Emailing Log files.  You can enter your email address, a subject of choice, and this configures how and what type of files to send you.  Make sure to hit the ‘Test’ button to verify GPCS is indeed emailing you.  You will get a Success or Failure message and hopefully a good reason why it failed if it did. You will also see an advanced button which opens a new window allowing you to configure your personal SMTP server into the system.  It is easier to use our default SMTP but feel free to take control.  It is your program.

  • Configuring the types of files to email.  You have the option to choose what type of files you want emailed to you and how they are sent.  You can have the Key Log files emailed to you as a message in your email body or by Key Log file in which you must use GPCS to open it or as both.  You may also choose to only email Hot Files (files that have keywords found in them) if indeed you are searching for keywords.  You may also want to email Screen Logs or only Screen Logs.  Screen Log emailing has the same option.  Send each screen shot in each log as a single Image attachment, or as the whole Screen Log file in which you must again use GPCS to open it, or as both.  You may also configure even deeper on the size to send the screen shots images.  Screen shots images can accumulate quickly and if you have minimum email storage you may choose to lower the image size.  You can choose full size, half size, fourth size, or optimize in which you put the maximum size you desire to have sent to you.

  • Watching for Keywords.  As we mentioned you can configure GPCS to watch for key words.  Once un-locked you can enter as many key words as you like.  If the key words are found from within the Key Log file then the file will be labeled HOT.  You will also receive a list of how many different key words are found in the file.  (This will not tell you how many times one key word has been repeated only how many different ones were found from within this file.)

  • Log Behavior.  You may also change the length of the Key Log file itself.  Default at 1200 key presses per log you can change this to read up to 4000 key presses per log or as low as 100.  FYI – Key Log files will not truncate any words and attempt not to truncate sentences.  In other words, even though the max may be 1200 key strokes you could end up with 1200+ depending on the last words.  Key Logs wait for the user to hit special keys such as ‘Enter or Return’ before closing.

  • Take or not take Screen Shots.  Sometimes taking screen shots can consume more drive space than you anticipate.  Most common on computers that get no rest from users.  In this case it may be more practical to turn taking screen shots off altogether.

  • Screen shots from Desktop or Active Window.  If you want to really become the user and experience what their history vividly then you will want to take screen shots from the desktop.  This particular feature copies the entire screen exactly the way the user was viewing it.  Images are also saved at that size for detailed examining.  However; the default is to take only the Active Window (the current window the user is in) to save disk space.  Note: In this option you will sometimes receive blank images indicating intransient or closing windows.

  • Screen shot frequency.  To key down the screen shot resources exactly where you want them you can also adjust the frequency in which screen shots are taken.  Now remember, NO screen shots are taken without user activity so this doesn’t adjust a timer.  There is no timer :)  This adjusts how often during user interaction screen shots occur.  The stage is default to medium in which shots are taken every 3 mouse clicks and every 21 key strokes.  For a more real time effect of what the user is doing place this to High in which you will receive screen shots every 1 mouse click and every 7 key strokes.  Again to save more disk space you can lower this to Low in which screen shots are taken every 5 mouse clicks and every 35 key strokes.  Any lower than this and you mine as well turn the screen shots off b/c you’ve missed too much already anyways.  A lot can happen in 5 mouse clicks.

  • Screens per log.  You may also want to save the logs as smaller or larger files.  The default is 20 screen logs per file.  This will never go higher unless you specify it to.  The smallest is 10 per file and the largest 30.  The reasoning for this is ram usage.  The screen log files are first saved to ram then once closed they are written to disk.  To prevent using too much ram on pc’s with little ram choose 10 per file.  The default justifies ram for common computers and if your computer has quite a bit of unused ram then make the log files 30 per file.

  • Banner or Warning Screen.  This is a very handy tool and we honestly recommend using it.  Unless you really want to keep the program a ghost then turn the banner on.  (The default is off.) This displays a default message or custom message of your choice to the user each time they log on or sign in.  This message is un-avoidable by the user until they close the window either by ‘Esc’ key or with the mouse.  Let the user know your intentions for monitoring them and recording their actions.  This will help deter the user from treating the compute in a way that you may not approve of and may save you in the long run.

  • About GPCS.  This displays website and support information as well as Version information.  This is also the screen you will need to use to un-lock GPCS.

  • Un-Locking GPCS.  When purchasing GPCS you will need to send us your ‘Serial Code’ given to you in the ‘About’ screen. Then once your payment is verified (happens immediately after purchase) you will receive your Key via email or phone, your choice.  Enter the Key into the About Screen and GPCS will be unlocked.

  • Disable GPCS or SLEEP.  There is also a final option that will allow you to disable GPCS.  In other words, you don’t have to un-install it or disarm it on each log on.  Just set this option and GPCS will not record anything.  It will simply wait on you to access it via Hot Key to enter the Serial Key.

PLEASE NOTE!

If you un-install GPCS and choose to remove all files during the process (optional, you don't have to remove if updating); your Serial Code will be different during the next install.  Simply sign in with the usename and password you recieved when you purchased GPCS and get you new key instantly; for life.  You make a one time payment only in which you receive rights to re-new your Serial Key at any time and receive any updates to this Major Version for FREE.

You may register your Serial Code via our website, email, or by phone.
